Crap

Sorry, I couldn't think of any other way to title this post. It is the only word that can describe my irritation with tonight's events. Well, I could definitely think of a few more less than desirable words but I'm trying to be tasteful on my blog. Crap is most certainly an understatement.

My sneaky little 2 year old has figured out how to set me over the edge even after hours. I've been thinking for some time that he could probably get out of his crib if he wanted to but I was convinced that he didn't want to take the risk of hurting himself if he fell. As you can imagine, his fear is gone and he is feeling free as a bird. He popped right back into our room after we put him down for bed to let us know that he still had a good hour and a half of energy to burn. Translation: Mommy is one step closer to checking herself into the mental institute.

I realize that this is the time that most toddlers make the transition to a "big boy" bed anyway. So it shouldn't be such a shock that he has figured out how to break free from the crib. I mean, why not? I've never known any other barrier to hold him back. But I also feel that Harrison has an abnormal amount of energy that somehow got zapped once he was put into his crib. Oh well, those days are gone and I guess I can shift my denial onto something more suitable like potty training. Here we go, onto the next adventure.

Amelia & St. Simons Weekend

Vacations are a necessity for any 2 and half year old. All that playing, napping, and screaming can be stressful on a toddler, and Harrison is no exception. Therefore, as a way to take all that added pressure off of my delicate little flower, we took a nice weekend getaway to the beach. Nevermind that we already live at the beach or the fact that Harrison does not have a clue what it means to relax...we needed new scenery.

Harrison and I enjoyed a quick visit with Aunt Nat Nat at Amelia. We spent Thursday and Friday by the pool and at the beach which wasn't quite as relaxing as it sounds. In fact, it might have been a little more work than I could have imagined in my wildest dreams...but we had a lot of fun. And after that, we met Robert and headed on to St. Simons to stay with some our best friends, Angel, Reint and Finn.

We also got to see my parents and all of my grandparents once we got to Jacksonville. Harrison was even able to squeeze in some time to go fishing with PaPa. Great weekend and and now it's time to start thinking about how I can plan a vacation that includes a full time sitter for the times that I need a vacation. Good luck with that!

Lee Lee & Harrison Band

Robert's Birthday

Grandmommy Lee Lee came to visit us this weekend. We had a great time visiting AND Robert and I had a nice time to ourselves because Lee Lee was sweet enough to babysit for most of the weekend. Since it was Robert's birthday on Sunday we hit the beach and enjoyed a somewhat overcast day without scorching hot temperatures. But, we were only able to stay for an hour because Jojo was willing to run himself to death to ensure that not a single bird was able to land on the beach. Even though I think he lives his lifelong dream of being a beach dog, I'm pretty sure that one more bird chase would have landed him in the doggy hospital had we not left when we did. I would love to bottle the combined energy of both Harrison & Jojo...at least they can wear each other out!
