Flagler Beach

It was fun in the sun this past Memorial Day weekend! Well, Saturday, at least. Crazy tropical storm, Beryl, came through Sunday and botched the weather for the rest of the weekend but we were glad to get a little beach time in on Saturday afternoon. We went over to Jim and Kristyn's house and got to spend time with friends. Harrison was happy as a clam to build castles and run along the ocean while Brooks voiced her frustrations over the whole event. She has become more of a beach diva than a beach bum and is only happy when someone is holding her when she is close to water. This is quite different than Harrison because when he was this age, I thought he might run off down the beach and never look back. But Brooks is a different animal. She is not quite comfortable yet with her surroundings at the beach or in the pool. Nevertheless, we had a good time just being able to soak in the sun and spend time with friends that we rarely see these days. I love a long weekend!

The Little Gym - End of the Year Show

Last week was Harrison's last day of the season for gymnastics at The Little Gym. To celebrate their season, the kids put on a show for parents, grandparents, and anyone who wanted to join in on the event. It was so cute and I know Harrison was pleased that Nana and Daddy got to check out all the cool, new tricks that he has been learning. He is a natural entertainer and even though many of the kids were a little hesitant to perform in front of an audience, Harrison took to it like a fish in water. Clearly, he is undeterred by being the center of attention which is no surprise to anyone who knows him. It is more of an oddity if he is not asking you to check out his every move...even it is something as simple as watching him throw a box over his head. What I'm trying to say is the man likes an audience, and he was especially thrilled to have an event where he could perform his skills while being watched, video taped, and photographed and at the end, getting a medal for it. He lives for this kind of stuff!

Harrison Turns 4 = Disney World

What a day! Harrison & Brooks are now official fans of everything that Disney has to offer. We had a great time at the Magic Kingdom and even though it seemed as though every person who is in Florida was at that particular park along with half of Europe, we really enjoyed ourselves. Harrison has been pretty amped about his day at Disney for a few weeks now so just the anticipation alone made for a fun time. But Mickey sure knows how to put on the charm so that the mere thought of waiting 45 minutes for a 2 minute ride is overshadowed by the bells and whistles of a cruise around the entire world while singing the same song. That is magic! We hit about 5 or 6 rides, picked out some memorabilia and birthday gifts, then cruised over to the Dolphin Hotel for a little R & R by the pool. Harrison, of course, made about 3 friends in the first 10 minutes that we were by the pool so the evening at the pool was just as fun as the park. We swam, watched fireworks, and played a few games at the arcade. The kids didn't go to sleep until almost midnight but surprisingly, Harrison AND Brooks both stayed on their best behavior. We played more at the pool the following day just to make sure all energy was burned out. It was a wonderful family trip and I am looking forward to the next adventure where Mickey and his friends seduce us into a three day stay.

Sugar Highs

Ahh, the joys of birthday cupcakes and sugar induced laughter. I try not to give into my kids relentless attempts to eat all sugary treats available, of which there are few. But for the birthday man, cupcakes have been in my house only to disappear within minutes. This is what happens when Harrison and Brooks indulge with their friends.
