I have not forgotten about my blog. Our obsession with taking pictures has caused our trusty Nikon camera of 3 and half years to bite the dust. Now, if you ask Robert, he might blame it on a few things other than that. He might say it was from the kids getting a hold of more often than not or he might say it was from my ability to destroy anything with a simple touch, as we call it, the death touch. But regardless of the reason, I don't have a functioning camera and it's driving me crazy! So pictures are scarce. We have also been very busy with all kinds of stuff so I have not had much time to write...but I'm sure that once I get a new camera that problem will be solved! So I will tell you what we have been up to with minimal pictures. This is not my usual style.
Harrison is still doing great in school and in karate. He has moved on from a white belt to an orange belt which is very exciting! We have been raising tadpoles for the last several weeks and are watching them hatch into frogs. Since we have moved into this house, Harrison has probably caught over 50 frogs. Sometimes we keep them in our aquarium for a night or two and them we make sure to let them go. Harrison has been working hard on his alphabet in school and seems to know almost all his letters. I love the fact that they work on each letter for a solid week before moving onto the next. We've also noticed that Harrison has the most fascinating memory. On top of the fact that he can remember any bribe that we throw out in our most desperate times, he also remembers where almost every one of his toys came from and can even remember the occasion for which he got it. He is exceptionally good at remembering where he left anything so that he can tell Robert and I where to go and find it for him when he needs it. Last week, Harrison and Brooks got to take a week long vacation to be with Lee Lee and Grand Bill. They spent a few days at Hilton Head and then headed up to Athens where Harrison got to go to a football game with Bill and enjoy some golf at the Athens Country Club.
And Miss Brooks, my little honey badger, has really learned to stand her ground. She has seen quite a few time outs since she has decided to pinch, slap, or bite if she doesn't get what she wants...Adorable! We're trying to work through the kinks with this one. I was impressed, however, to learn from her teacher that she will not stand for bullies, even if they are bigger and happen to be boys. Apparently, a new boy joined their classroom last week and Brooks made sure to let him know that she would not tolerate him trying to take her stuff or move in on her space. This is no surprise to me since the girl doesn't even turn around to say bye to me after I drop her off in her classroom. I'm assuming it is because she knows she has so much to concentrate on that she can not be bothered with her needy mother. She is starting to say a lot more that we can understand and, as any little sibling, she needs to be doing exactly what her big brother is doing. And if he has something, she must have it as well. One particular thing that she does without mimicking her brother is to try and wear every pair of shoes that she can get her feet in. They don't even have to be a matching pair. I've watched her parade around the house for 30 minutes straight with one of my 4 inch heels on one foot and one of Robert's loafers on the other. She's all about accessorizing.
And what about Robert and I? Well, we took a fun trip last weekend to Naples in search of a new house. We will be moving there in December so we decided to scout out the area, along with spending some time with our dear friends, Kk and Ryan. It's exciting and busy times right now but I promise to keep up with my blog once things aren't quite as hectic.
