Deck the Halls!

We are getting ready for the holidays and my kids can not contain their excitement. You would have thought we had just given Harrison his bag of hidden Halloween candy plus a few soda cans to wash it all down. He is at such a cute stage where he wants to help with EVERYTHING. So it took a little longer than expected to get all the decorations into their proper locations. Not to mention, the tree has provided an excellent fort for them to crawl behind. Let's not forget the year that Harrison pulled the tree onto himself. I wouldn't expect anything less from this year.

Harrison is really getting into the Christmas spirit this year and we are having a great time watching all of his excitement. We have, of course, been using it to our advantage for the last several months that Santa is watching him to make sure he behaves. There have been a few instances that Harrison has has little regard for Santa's propositions but as far we're concerned, he's been a very good little boy. And Brooks is excited with anything that her brother is doing so she is also ready for all the festivities. She seems to know something fun is happening and just wants to be part of it. Here they are in the 2 day stint that it took us to get the tree and get it decorated.

Catching Up

Whew...it's been a while. Life has been busy but I can't believe it has taken me this long to post anything. I've been doing a lot more artwork recently so between juggling kids, painting, blogging, and countless other things, I have slacked off in a few areas. But I plan to figure out how to manage my time more appropriately so that I will not WILL NOT lose focus on writing about my two maniac children. With all the shenanigans they pull, I need documentation so that I can blackmail them in the future!

So where to start? Well, I guess I'll start with Harrison since he just blasted through the room in a Spiderman costume, said "what the hiccup?" and then somersaulted his way into the next room. This is all pretty normal although I'm shocked that he didn't preface it with "Guess what? Santa Claus is gonna bring me a Batman helicopter... Yeah, but I gotta be good". I'm shocked because, whatever the mood, Santa bringing him a helicopter is constantly on his mind.

We have stayed consistent on Harrison's diet and he is still doing well, especially in school. He is still somewhat obsessed with superheroes and has transferred this obsession onto his sister who can almost say the words Spiderman and Batman on que. What's more amazing is that she says Batman more than Mommy. Harrison continues to be quite the gregarious little fellow and I am always amused to see how willing he is to strike a conversation with ANYONE, no matter what the situation. And you can bet that while in a conversation, he's going to mention Santa or Batman at least once. Unless you're a realtor trying to sell our house to your clients. In that case, he's going to let you know that he just pooped in the toilet of the particular bathroom that you are standing in. Not a good selling point but at least he's personable.

He's very considerate and likes to ask Robert and I all the time if we are happy happy. But he is also willing to manipulate the situation by telling you that whatever you are doing makes him sad especially if it is not something he is not fond of...like taking a nap. Yes, this child gains more and more energy by the day and it is Definitely not from all the sleep he is getting. And I guess, because of all the activity, he feels that clothes either weigh him down or make him hot because it is a rarity if he is ever in more than his undies, but I'm lucky if he'll keep those on! I am investing in costumes just so he will wear clothes around the house.

There's just too much to write about Harrison because he is such a character but most of all I love his endearing personality, his imagination, and the bond that he has with his sister. And if I can just get him to use his stubbornness and strong will in the future, to persevere, even when people are telling him no. Well, then I think we'll be doing some good.

And what about Miss Brooks? Well, this girl has taken independence to a brand new level. She has mastered walking, climbing, and running and I don't think I'll be surprised if she grabs my keys, walks off to the car and decides to drive herself to college. She can hold her own with Harrison and just recently we discovered that she likes to bite back at him when he pushes her away. This also may be due to the fact that her top two teeth are coming in. She is talking, she has about 7 or 8 words, and like I said earlier, Batman is one of her favorites. Luckily, doll is another.

I haven't seen too much that can hold her back and when she wants something, she will squeal at a high pitch and point at it until you know what she means. She's a very quick learner, just like her brother, and I'm very scared to think about what these two will come up with in the future. I know they've already figured out how to send me over the edge!

Brooks does differ from her brother in that she will eat almost anything...and lots of it. This is one trait that she gets from her mother. She is a funny thing and it is apparent that she likes to make people laugh. She also loves the attention of her brother, Mommy, and Daddy and that gives me hope that she will not pick up my keys and drive off tomorrow.

Happy Halloween!

Superheroes were out in full force this Halloween along with a few other adorable costumes. Harrison wore 3 of his 4 costumes within a 2 day stint. He had an action packed day at school dressed as Captain America and later in the day he morphed into a black Power Ranger. Brooks stayed constant as a bee.

We had a really nice evening trick or treating in our neighborhood with good friends and fun costumes. It is so fun to watch the kids running from house to house in search of their next treat. They had so much fun and even Brooks was in a great mood watching all the kids run around. I was hoping to get a little more sleep out of the deal since bedtime got pushed back so late but that was not in the cards. However, I am very happy about the fact that Harrison seems to have forgotten all about the candy that is currently hidden in my closet. I guess it is all about the chase for him right now.
