I got to spend some much needed time with my best friend, Amy, this past weekend. Just to prove what a great buddy she really is, she was willing to spend an afternoon with me and my two wild animals at the Jacksonville Zoo...now that's friendship! And I can't wait until her, soon to be, bundle of joy will be joining us for more of our wild and crazy adventures!
It was a gorgeous day but also a little chilly. You would have thought that the animals would have been out in the cool air and ready for action, but apparently, once a Floridian, always a Floridian, and with just a hint of cold air, these animals are not willing to move from their cozy, warm bed. As the day heated up, more of the animals came out for their daily viewing and we were able to observe some the unique behaviors of these exotic, wild animals which just so happen to be very similar to the behaviors of my own children...fascinating!
Harrison and Brooks each had their own favorite animals at the zoo. Although, much to Harrison's dismay, the ever popular Tazmanian Devil, or as he calls it, T Devil, was not on exhibit. This didn't keep him from asking one of the zoo keepers, just to be sure. Harrison claimed the lion was his favorite animal on display although I would argue he had more fun watching the monkeys and the penguins. He also seemed to thoroughly enjoy the reptile center and was very interested in navigating the zoo with a map. Brooks, on the other hand, was enamored with the giraffes and she couldn't get enough of the miniature goats that they were able to pet and brush.
It was such a nice afternoon with the kids and I am always happy to spend some time with my wonderful friend, Amy. Plus, it didn't hurt that the zoo is exactly where we all belong. Many more visits to come.
Love these babies!,!!!!!
