Harrison, of course, was more excited than anyone. He loves the experience of camping and if we had stayed an entire month, that would have been ok with him. Brooks also enjoyed herself and she certainly feeds off the excitement that Harrison gets for new adventures. We have come to the conclusion that is best to get each of them the exact same thing for almost anything so even the simplest things like having their own flashlights, dreamlights, and glowsticks made the night almost better than going to Disney. They both have such a good relationship and it is so much fun to watch them enjoy things together.
We were able to accomplish most of the necessities of camping in our short visit. We played by the lake, set up camp, made a fire, cooked hotdogs, roasted marshmallows, attempted to put to sleep two amped up maniacs, and woke up to go fishing (at least, Harrison and Robert did). When we woke up the next morning, Robert and I were reminded of the fact that we are only getting older after hobbling out of the tent from the lack of an air matress. On top of which, Brooks was not willing to sleep in her own sleeping bag halfway through the night so instead, she basically slept on my face. But it was a very memorable trip and nice break from all the noise. Just a simple trip with the ones you love. Perfect.
